Body-wide inflammation is persistent, low-level activation of your immune system that never fully resolves. Instead of firing and shutting off, inflammatory signaling stays mildly elevated for years. It shows up as joint stiffness, brain fog, sluggish recovery, stubborn abdominal fat, and fatigue that sleep doesn't fix.

Acute inflammation is a feature, not a bug. You cut your hand, immune cells flood the area, clean up the damage, and the signal shuts off. The trouble starts when the shut-off stops working.

Several things keep that switch stuck on in men over 40. Visceral fat is a big one, because abdominal fat isn't inert storage. It's metabolically active tissue pumping cytokines like IL-6 and TNF-alpha straight into circulation. Poor sleep is another. Thymosin alpha-1

The immune regulator of the group. It helps normalize T-cell function, useful when the immune system has drifted into a chronically activated pattern. Men who catch every virus that comes through the house, or who never fully bounced back after a serious illness, are the best candidates.

KPV

A three-amino-acid fragment of alpha-MSH with a narrow, useful job: local anti-inflammatory action in the gut. Oral KPV pairs well with BPC-157 when the intestinal lining is clearly part of the picture. Who Gets the Most Out of an Anti-Inflammatory Peptide Protocol?

The best responders are men over 35 with elevated inflammatory markers, a specific identifiable driver like gut dysfunction or visceral fat, and symptoms that have persisted despite reasonable diet and sleep changes. Response tracks closely with baseline hs-CRP, which is why we measure it before we prescribe anything.

Here's the man who gets the most out of this. He's 38 to 60, carrying more abdominal weight than he wants, with a joint that's complained for years and a gut that's been off since some identifiable event. His hs-CRP sits above 1.5 mg/L. He's cleaned up the obvious stuff, or he's willing to, because peptides stacked on four hours of sleep and a case of beer a week are just expensive.

If gut symptoms are present, we add stool testing. Without a baseline, you can't tell whether a protocol is working or whether you just feel better this month.

hs-CRP is the anchor. Cheap, widely available, and it tracks systemic inflammatory burden reasonably well. Under 1.0 mg/L is where I want men. One to three is intermediate. Above three, assuming no acute infection is skewing it, tells me there's real load to address.

Ferritin is underrated. It's an acute phase reactant, so a high ferritin without a clear iron-overload explanation often points at inflammation. Fasting insulin tells me the metabolic contribution. Hormone labs matter because the relationship runs both directions: inflammation lowers testosterone, and low testosterone raises inflammatory markers in turn.

We recheck at 8 to 12 weeks. If the numbers haven't moved, the protocol changes.

Are There Safety Limits Worth Knowing About?

Yes. Men with active or recent cancer should not use growth-promoting peptides without oncology clearance, because anything that supports tissue proliferation deserves caution in that setting. Autoimmune disease requires careful selection. Peptide source and sterility matter enormously, and injection site reactions are the most common side effect.

The cancer point is the firmest line I draw. Peptides that promote angiogenesis and cell proliferation do exactly what you want in a torn tendon and exactly what you don't want near malignant tissue.
